Portrait Photo Course Details

1 Day Course - 9 am -5 pm

• Must have a DSLR Camera

• Must understand the basics of exposure, aperture, shutter speed and ISO

• Ideally will have a zoom lens (50mm+) or 50mm prime

How you will learn - portrait photography course

Alan is passionate about photography and a qualified photography tutor. He will engage you in discussion and be more than willing to answer as many questions as possible on the night.

Alan will use Powerpoint to explain concepts/topics, followed by practical break-out sessions to turn theory into practice where applicable.

1. You will be encouraged to ask questions and engage throughout so come prepared to ask any question you need an answer to.

2. You will be provided with comprehensive topic notes to take away and use for future reference

3. You will be given assignments to help you cement the theory learned and raise any questions/issues with Alan to clarify.

4. You will get the camera out in class and follow various scenarios and settings to help cement the understanding of camera operation.

Time: portrait photography course

• 1-Day Course 9 am to 5 pm (1hr lunch break approx 12:30 pm

• Please allow yourself 15mins for parking and being ready to start on time.

Places - portrait photography course

• In order for a class to go ahead, there must be a minimum of three clients booked for that particular date. Should there be insufficient interest, alternative dates will be offered.

• No show on the event - loss of place/money

• Rebooking fee applies for changing the class date if less than 4 weeks before the event date or for re-booking a missed class.

• Lighting - Learn about flash and fixed lighting

• Exposure - Learn about applying Aperture, Shutter and ISO for the moment

• Camera Settings - White Balance, Focusing, Metering and Drive Mode

• Composition - Framing, recognising visual clues, controlling the intention

• Equipment needed - lights, lens, gear

Beginners - Aimed at:

• Novices and beginners who wish to learn the basics of camera operation and composing shots

• No prior knowledge required, however, you will be expected to have a basic understanding about Aperture, Shutter and ISO before attending. If not, attend the Get off Auto class first.

• You will need to bring your camera, it’s manual (if you have one)

• Ideally a zoom lens 50mm + and or a 50mm prime lens
