This is not an approved course or endorsed by the RPS as an organisation. Alan’s advice is private, unofficial and based on his experience and understanding of the elements required to reach the standard that may result in being awarded a distinction without any guarantee.

RPS Courses - Online - Zoom
Group Evening Class: 19:00 - 21:00. Six classes; you choose dates within twelve months to suit,
Or you can book six 40-minute, 1-2-1 mentoring slots to suit your availability and timescales.
Over 12 months, you will have six sessions at intervals suited to you online using Zoom, in a group class, or on a 1-2-1 basis. Professional input, feedback, and support will help you progress towards the A or L distinction with the Royal Photographic Society. I have a 100% success rate with all applicants I mentored, achieving Licentiateship and Associate Distinctions.
If you require a broader portfolio of images before embarking on your RPS journey, consider my Monthly Mentoring Programme where you complete a different genre and style of photography every month to develop your experience and grow your portfolio.

Description - RPS Mentoring
Having supported many clients through a journey of development and improvement, with their photography, over the past few years, this RPS mentoring course is for those who already technically competent (or at least are on the path to mastering it) and are able to demonstrate good design and composition in their photography.
You are not expected to be a master or even polished to attend. The Rps courses are to help support you in improving in all three areas of image production:
Technical - The mechanics of it
Creativity - The reason for it
Output - The editing and publication of it
RPS Distinction Group - Format and Tuition
Small group setting online via Zoom Meeting. Max 3 Participants a session
Or 1-2-1 private sessions focusing just on you.
Images shared view screen sharing
Dropbox used for updated portfolios and images
Group collaboration and sharing where applicable
2hrs - 7 pm - 9:00 pm classes every month - Option to attend/leave when it suits you - you pick six class dates within 12 months
Or alternatively if those group dates don't suit you, book a 40 min 1-2-1 Zoom session instead as part your course plan

LICENTIATE OF THE RPS (LRPS)
Requires ten images which reflect your ability as a photographer.
The panel can be a mixed subject but should demonstrate a range of competencies.
Can only be be submitted as digital (DPI)
ASSOCIATE OF THE RPS (ARPS)
Requires a body of work (15) images of a high standard and a written Statement of Intent.
Fine Art Photography: This Will consist of photography produced to fulfil the photographer's creative vision in expressing and sharing perceptions or emotions.
The panel has to be coherent and have the same subject matter/style
Can be submitted as prints , digital or book format

If your timescales or learning style is better suited to ad-hoc personalised Zoom sessions and additional support then I can provide these rather than being part of a collaborative group process.
You can book individual 40 Min 1-2-1 RPS private Zoom slots as required when our diaries allow, or
A package of 1hr additional lessons online private photography lessons to be taken and used as required over a 12-month period to help you with editing or anything else to reach the standard required.

Aimed at: Intermediates & Advanced
Prerequisites for attending RPS Courses
The RPS courses are aimed at Intermediate Level Photographers who have already completed the Beginners Photography & Lightroom Courses or have equivalent skills and knowledge. Many of the clients on this course have produced images as part of the our Intentions Course and therefore are ready for the Associates Level distinction with the RPS
You will be expected to understand and demonstrate or be willing to learn;
Good exposure of photographs
Good compositional awareness
A range of techniques and styles (L)
Ability to edit images to a "reasonable" standard.
Over the course of 12 months, where you will join six online Zoom sessions at intervals suited to you, there will be professional input, feedback and support to help you progress towards either the A or L distinction with the RPS.
Whilst the success of a RPS distinction cannot be guaranteed, every effort will be made to ensure you enter only when ready and once feedback has been received from a number of qualified persons.
There will also be an option to extend the RPS course beyond twelve months if required or take private 1-2-1 Zoom sessions as needed. (at additional cost)

Summary Terms for RPS Courses
Cancellation
Cancellation of a RPS mentoring class less than 1wk prior to event date - you may lose that class from your count of six if it impacts the class running due to numbers.
No show on the event - loss of class from your six
Rebooking fee applies for changing class date if less than 1 week before event date or for re-booking a missed class. £25
A RPS distinction pass cannot be guaranteed.
If you decide to not continue with the RPS mentoring classes or RPS Courses you will not be entitled to any refund.
